Bookings and fees
How do I enroll my child?
Contact us to check availability. Once a suitable space is confirmed, you will receive the enrollment information, terms and payment details.
Are fees charged monthly or termly?
Fees are charged termly, calculated according to the number of scheduled lessons in that term, and payable at the start of the term when you are invoiced.
Can my child join during the term?
Yes, subject to availability. Fees will be calculated pro rata from your child’s starting date.
Can my child do a trial lesson?
Yes, please arrange this with us. If you decide to continue, the trial lesson will be counted as your child’s first lesson and will be invoiced. If you decide not to continue, the trial lesson is free.
Is there an enrollment fee?
Yes. A once-off enrollment fee applies when joining or re-enrolling after leaving the swim school. This fee will be added to your first invoice.
What if I leave the swim school mid-term?
Unfortunately, term fees are non-refundable. As your child’s place is reserved for the full term, leaving mid-term means that you will forfeit the remainder of the term’s fees.
If I haven’t paid my invoice and my child misses lessons, can those lessons be credited?
Unfortunately not. Fees are payable at the start of the term and cover your child’s booked slot for the remainder of that term, whether or not every lesson is attended. In exceptional circumstances, a credit may be applied to the following term’s invoice, but in most cases catch-up lessons should be booked to make up for missed lessons.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Please notify us as soon as possible through the app. You may catch up through the catch-up group in your own time, subject to available spaces, or forfeit the missed lesson.
How do catch-ups work?
If your child misses a lesson for any reason—such as illness, work commitments, being away or traffic—you may arrange a lesson through the catch-up group in your own time, subject to available spaces. Catch-ups may be carried over into the following term only.
What happens if Couta Kidz cancels a lesson?
We will arrange a catch-up where possible. If the lesson cannot be caught up, the appropriate credit will be applied according to our terms.
What happens if my child’s teacher is absent?
Where possible, a qualified substitute teacher will take the lesson. If a substitute is unavailable, the lesson will be cancelled and parents will be notified as soon as possible. A catch-up lesson or credit will then be arranged in accordance with our terms.
What happens during adverse weather or lightning?
As our pool is indoors, lessons usually continue during rainy or cold weather. However, lessons may be paused or cancelled during lightning or severe weather if it is considered unsafe. Parents will be notified as soon as possible, and a catch-up lesson or credit will be arranged in accordance with our terms.
Preparing for lessons
What should my child bring?
Please bring a costume, swimming cap, towel and your child’s Couta Kidz Passport.
What happens if we forget the Passport?
No problem! Your child can collect their sticker after the lesson and take it home to add to their Passport.
How early should we arrive?
Please arrive approximately five minutes before the lesson so your child is ready to enter the pool on time.
Can my child swim if they are sick?
Children should not attend if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, a contagious illness or are feeling too unwell to participate safely.
What if my child is still young and not potty trained, or only just potty trained?
Please ensure that your child wears one disposable swimming nappy and a tight-fitting costume bottom.
What if my child is nervous or cries?
This is completely normal, particularly for younger or first-time swimmers. Our teachers introduce children to the water gently and allow confidence to develop at an appropriate pace.
Safety and progress
Are your teachers qualified?
Yes. Lessons are taught by trained swimming instructors who focus on water safety, confidence and age-appropriate swimming skills.
How quickly will my child learn to swim?
Every child progresses differently. Age, confidence, attendance and previous water experience all affect how quickly skills develop. Consistent attendance and as much leisure swimming time as possible will assist with progress.
When will my child be water-safe?
Water safety is developed gradually and reinforced throughout lessons. No child should ever be considered completely safe around water, so active adult supervision remains essential, even after they learn to swim.
Why are lessons only 20 minutes long?
Twenty-minute lessons are well suited to young swimmers’ concentration and energy levels. The small 2:1 ratio allows for focused, active teaching during that time.
